The ongoing conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran continues to escalate, resulting in significant human losses and raising concerns about global economic stability. Meanwhile, human rights abuses, including the alleged molestation of women and girls by the late Cesar Chavez, have come to light.

Introduction

The current conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran has resulted in significant human losses and is raising concerns about global economic stability. According to reports, the death toll in Iran has surpassed 780, with mourners holding a mass funeral for 165 schoolgirls and staff killed in a missile strike. The US and Israel have been accused of seeking unchallenged supremacy in the Middle East.

Human Rights Abuses

A recent investigation by the New York Times has found that Cesar Chavez, the late co-founder of the United Farm Workers, allegedly abused and molested multiple women and girls over the course of decades. Two women, Ana Murguia and Debra Rojas, have come forward alleging that they were sexually abused by Chavez when they were girls in the 1970s.

Global Economic Impacts

The conflict has resulted in significant disruptions to global trade, with oil prices surging and helium exports from Qatar halted. The US has been accused of seeking to control the world’s oil trade, with economist Michael Hudson stating that the war is a ‘war for oil.’ The price of oil is expected to top $150 or even $200 per barrel if the conflict continues.

Domestic Terrorism and ICE

The FBI and IRS have launched a joint initiative to investigate nonprofit organizations over suspected links to domestic terrorism. Attorney General Pam Bondi has issued a memo ordering law enforcement agencies and federal prosecutors to compile a list of potential ‘domestic terrorism’ organizations that promote ‘extreme viewpoints on immigration, radical gender ideology, and anti-American sentiment.’ Meanwhile, immigration activists are calling on schools to ‘de-ICE’ charter flights used to transport student athletes, citing the use of these flights to deport immigrants.

Meatpacking Workers Strike

In Colorado, nearly 4,000 meatpacking workers have entered their fifth day on strike to protest unfair and dangerous labor conditions at JBS USA, the world’s largest meat producer. The strike, which is the largest in the US meatpacking industry in four decades, is being led by unionized workers at the slaughterhouse and beef processing plant in the city of Greeley.

Polymarket and Gambling

Polymarket, a ‘prediction market’ platform, has been used by gamblers to wager $529 million on the Iran strikes. The platform has faced scrutiny in the past, with the Justice Department and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ending active investigations into the company after Trump returned to the White House.
